Keep Sevier Beautiful works in conjunction with the Sevier County School System in several different areas to impact the youth of Sevier County.

  • Kindergarten Recycled Craft - During the fall season kindergarten classrooms are visited with a lesson on recycling. This fun lesson shares what can be recycled in Sevier County and is followed up with the kindergarten children making a recycled craft to take home.

  • Learn GREEN, Live GREEN - Spring time KSB visits second grade classrooms for a 30 minute environmental lesson. The lesson includes reading a book and sharing information about KSB. The classroom receives a copy of the book to be included in their classroom library for future lessons with the students.

  • Fred & Ted – This fun interactive lesson focuses on storm water through a fun adventure of two fish friends traveling downstream. One enjoys a clean stream while the other encounters pollutants along the way. This lesson is taught as part of the fourth grade field trip at the Eugene Huskey Environmental Center.

  • Garbage Basics - focuses on where Sevier County garbage goes.  This lesson to sixth grade students at the Eugene Huskey Environmental Center includes learning about the waste stream and waste disposal options that are available in our county. Materials about Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), composting, landfills, and recycling and source reduction are discussed. Students end the lesson with a “race to recycle.”

  • After School Programs – KSB provides environmental lessons to many after school programs including the different locations of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Smoky Mountains, Kid’s Place Programs, and school clubs. Programs can be tailored to meet the themes of the organizations.

  • Summer Programs – KSB provides environmental lessons during the summer months to several school grant recipients for reading programs and to childcare sites around Sevier County. Programs are tailored to the organization’s themes and ages.

  • General Public - KSB also offers recycling education to the general public through many speaking engagements, displays and booths to distribute information on recycling locally and the benefits of recycling locally and nationally.

Working together we can all make a real difference.
